Blue Knights is a father/son group,
consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Boys, ages 5-14 are eligible to join. The group meets the 4th Tuesday of
the month from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with both fathers and sons in attendance.
(Dates are adjusted during Thanksgiving and Christmas). Each month, a
different virtue or facet of the Faith is taught. This year’s lessons are to be
announced. Activities include prayer time, learning time, activity time,
snack time, and play time, with occasional Eucharistic Adoration. We meet
from October to May. There is a pizza party in December, a special Blue Knights
Mass, and an overnight campout at the end of the year. This year the group will
be meeting in the gym at St. Patrick’s Church in Joliet. Contact Jeff Sniegowski @ 815-436-0504 or [email protected].

Annual Father-Daughter
Ball
Each year during the winter season, fathers with their daughters attend a formal ball for a night of fine dining (provided by the onlooking moms!), dancing, and socializing in the warm atmosphere of an elegantly decorated hall. The celebrated occaision provides a time for dads and daughters to share a special evening together. |
The Cathedral Children's Choir at the Cathedral of Saint Raymond Nonnatus in Joliet hosts a liturgically and musically rich program that gladly welcomes homeschooled students along with young singers from all over the Diocese. The program is co-directed by OLOG graduate Claire
Halbur. For more information, visit www.cathedralchildrenschoir.org.
Annual Student Project Fair
At the Spring Student Project Fair, students present projects in the categories of Science, History, Writing, Speech, and Crafts. Projects are reviewed by a panel of judges and students receive awards of blue, red, or white ribbons based on project completeness, quality of presentation, depth of understanding, and degree of difficulty considering student grade level. The fair is topped off with a pot-luck dinner and lively raffle for numerous "treasured" items. |
All Saints Party
All Saints Day is celebrated on Sunday with a traditional costume party with the children dressed up as their favorite saint. Each "saint" gives a short description of his/her life's story. Following a parade around the hall to the tune of When the Saints Go Marching In, everyone participates in a living rosary. The festivities end in a pot-luck supper and treats for everyone. |
